501st Q/A

This year the Dark Side will be coming to KFX, in the form of the 501st. We asked some questions to troop member TK6646.

Q1. What is the 501st?
From Article I of the 501st Legion Charter:
“…The Legion is an all-volunteer organization formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts under a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion seeks to promote interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes, and to facilitate the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work…”
In short, we are the “bad guys” from the Star Wars movies and expanded universe.

Q2. What is your role within the org?
My designation is TK6646 and I am the Events Coordinator for the Interior of BC for the Outer Rim Garrison of the 501st Legion.

Q3. What will the 501st be doing at Kelowna Fan Xpo (Are you still interested in presenting a costuming panel?)
The 501st will be hosting an information/costuming panel during the con and will have a table where the general public can talk directly to members regarding costume building and membership requirements for the 501st. We will also have members walking the con in costume in order to maintain order and an Imperial presence at the event.

Q4. How can someone join the 501st?
Members must be 18 years of age or older and own a high-quality costume representing any of the characters conforming to the 501st character approval statement.
We recommend you join our forum as a guest. We are always happy to help potential members get started on their own costuming journey. After all, we were all first-timers once.
